ASUS (EA-N66) Dual Band N450 Ultra-Fast Wireless 3-In-1 (AP, Repeater, Ethernet Adapter) Adapter With High-Power

I tried a couple of repeaters first, but they could not boost the signal adequately to penetrate into my son's bedroom. After this arrived, my 16 year old son had it working in 5 minutes. He is using it in ethernet adaptor mode, connected to the computer in his bedroom with a short cable. My wife is happy that we don't have a cable running diagonally across the living room any more.

I had 2 two-years old APs, both are Linksys WAP54G, linked together at about 200 ft apart. I used a signal booster at one of these APs. One of AP's power adapter mulfuntioned so I decided to replace it with a better one. I searched and read a good review about Asus EA-N66 so I decided to try it out. Setup interface is well detailed and informative. I set it up as a Wireless Access Point mode only, using 2.4 GHz frequency and selected Auto for the Wireless Mode setting. I updated it firmware to the latest, 1.0.1.7D, before fully operational. Over my previous AP, the size is smaller, lighter and the signal strenght is great. The signal had 15% improved strength and about 50ft increased distance. The old Linksys AP managed to pick up the signal and successfully linked and my smartphone also detected the signal and connected as N mode successfully. Overall this is a great product.
